The Oxford Dental College was started in the year 1992.

The chairman of the institution is Shri. S. Narasa Raju Garu. Their main aim is to provide dental education to the students, provide the best services to the people and community-oriented research. The college provides the best academic performance. There is a great effort by the students and the well-trained faculty behind this.

The college is accredited with an A Grade by NAAC. The college teaching and non-teaching staff have put great effort to get this accreditation.

The college is attached to hospitals, they not only provide education to the students they also provide super specialty 24×7 services to the people.

The college is situated in a well-spacious area having 8 storeys integrated complex. The floor space is 2, 85,000 square feet. The departments are so spacious that it provides facilities for both preclinical and clinical departments.

The Oxford Dental College Bangalore is recognized by the Government of Karnataka and the Dental Council of India.

The college is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science Bangalore. The college has modern facilities and provides all modern equipment. The modern equipment includes CAD CAM lab CERCON unit which is DEGUDENT GERMANY. Also, they have high-end KAVO chairs from Germany, Tek scanIII for occlusal analysis, a computerized periodontal probe and a periastron. The specialized microscope such as PENTA HEAD, phantom head, and many other preclinical working units.

The college has invested 400 million rupees in the infrastructure, and they treat around 300 patients free of cost every day.

They had increased the BDS admission strength from 40 to 100 from the academic year 1996-1997.

University affiliation

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science Karnataka Bangalore grants affiliation as per section 45 of RGUHS Act 1994 for conducting BDS  and the MDS courses with an intake specified for each for the year 2018- 2019 at The Oxford Dental College Bommanahali Hosur Road Bangalore 560068.

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA TO APPEAR FOR NEET UG

  1. BDS Admission
  • Candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete 17 years of age on or before 31st of December of the year he or she takes admission to 1st-year MBBS/BDS course.
  • The age limit for NEET UG (upper age limit) is 25 years of age on the date of examination. A relaxation of 5 years of age is given for the candidate who is belonging to SC/ST/OBC.
  • Foreign citizens are also supposed to appear in NEET and qualify NEET examination.
  1. MDS Admission
  • For MDS admission candidates must have a qualified NEET PG.
  • Candidate must have a recognized degree of BDS (Bachelor in Dental Surgery) from a recognized university or Institute in India.
  • Candidate must be registered in State Dental Council with a provisional or permanent registration and must have undergone a compulsory rotary internship of one year approved or recognized by the dental college.
  • A compulsory rotary internship of 12 months or 1 year must be completed by the 31st of March.
  • He or she shall not be eligible for the MDS admission unless he or she shall complete the compulsory rotary internship and must have permanent or provisional registration by the state dental council.
  • Candidates from foreign are supposed to qualify NEET entrance examination.

Bachelor of dental surgery

  • BDS is a five-year course with one year of compulsory rotary internship.
  • Candidate must pass PUC/12th or equivalent with science subject physics, chemistry, biology, maths, English with 50 percent aggregate.
  • Candidates for SC/ST must have an aggregate of 40 percent of marks in physics, chemistry, biology, maths, and English as a language.
  • Candidates who are foreign have to qualify NEET examination conducted by NBE.

DEPARTMENT OF ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY

Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology deals with the health of the oral cavity, diagnosis and management of the patient with medical disorders, salivary gland disorders, temporomandibular disorders, and orofacial pain. Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology in The Oxford Dental College provide good health to people for diagnosis and treatment.

Apart from Oral Medicine Radiology department deals with interpretational and production of images and data.

Other than Master of Dental Surgery they also have courses for PhD programs.

The daily outpatient of the department is 450. They have a separate library and seminar rooms.

There are around 200 international and national publications done by the department.

The posting for undergraduates starts from the third year onwards. They are supposed to record the cases and develop the X-rays.

DEPARTMENT OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery deals with the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, the defects of the head and neck region.

The treatment for the deformity affecting the jaw and the face is done here.

The department is so spacious that it’s around 12634 sq. The department posting starts from the third year onwards. The third year is supposed to take cases such as exodontia, and alveoloplasty.

The postgraduate students are also posted in the department. The oral and Maxillofacial Surgery departments has OT (operation theatre, causality) etc.

The postgraduate students are supposed to do cases such as minor surgeries, complex reactions, and complex treatments such as maxillofacial trauma.

DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY AND ENDODONTICS

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics deals with diagnosis and treatment of caries discoloured, fractured teeth, nonaesthetic, and root canal treatments.

Treatments for pulp and periapical lesions are also done. It’s a three-year program. Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics covers the

Preclinical operative dentistry, Endodontics, postgraduate clinical operative dentistry, aesthetic dentistry.

There are about 64 dental chairs for undergraduate and postgraduate, autoclave, ultrasonic scalers, obturation system, microscope, and the latest fibre optic units.

DEPARTMENT OF PERIODONTICS

The Department of Periodontics deals with diagnosis, treatment, and affecting the supporting and surrounding tissues.  They also deal with dental Implants. The department was started in the year 1992.

The Department of Periodontics provides BDS and MDS courses. They have all the latest facilities such as piezosurgery, microsurgery instruments, Florida probe, Periotron 8000, BANA  processor, and Implant Kit with physio dispenser.

The department deals with surgical and non-surgical, preventive and bone regeneration and surgical implant procedures.

DEPARTMENT OF PROSTHODONTICS INCLUDING CROWN AND BRIDGE

Department of Prosthodontics deals with treatment programs such as removable partial denture prosthesis, complete denture prosthesis, fixed partial denture prosthesis, Implant supported denture prosthesis, Management and treatment of Temporomandibular joint, full mouth rehabilitation etc.

The Department of Prosthodontics also deals with the treatment of people who have undergone extensive deformities such as surgery trauma etc.

The department has connections with many speakers. They host many programs conducted by national and international speakers. This helps the students and staff up to date on the latest development.

DEPARTMENT OF ORTHODONTICS AND DENTOFACIAL ORTHOPEDICS

Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics deals with the alignment of misaligned teeth such as craniofacial deformity, cleft lip and palate, and skeletal and dental malocclusion.

They also have a tie-up with the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to undergo treatment such as orthognathic surgery (skeletal malocclusion, craniofacial deformity).

Apart from the Department of oral and Maxillofacial Surgery they also have a tandem with departments such as conservative dentistry and Endodontic, Periodontics, and Prosthodontics for comprehensive dental rehabilitation for the patient.
